Team Green Britain Bike Week campaign hits Cornwall
Children across Cornwall are being encouraged to get on their bikes this June in the annual celebration of two-wheeled travel. As part of the national Team Green Britain Bike Week campaign, the School Travel Plan team at Cornwall Council will visit schools in Cornwall to promote cycling and involve them in a range of activities.
The aim of the week is to generate enthusiasm for cycling amongst as many people as possible in Cornwall and to encourage them to get active on their bikes. How to cycle safely and sensibly is an important message children will take away from the week.
The schools' road show will consist of a series of activities including, cycle skills, an obstacle course, a cycle simulator and smoothie maker, cycle safety demonstrations, Dr Bike, scooter sessions, a series of cycle-related lessons and Bling your Bike sessions.
Team Green Britain Bike Week is taking place from the 18 to the 26 June. Cornwall Council's School Travel Plan Team in partnership with Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Primary Care Trust's Mobilise team will be taking their cycling roadshow to four schools around the county.
The schools that will be visited during the week are Lanner Primary School on Monday 20 June, Devoran School on Tuesday 21 June, St Michaels CE primary School, Helston on Thursday 23 June and Treleigh School on Friday 24 June.
The activities will run from approximately 9:00am to 2.30pm.
