Bude

Photograph of Bude

‘Bude has its own, very special charm’ is a remark we often hear from visitors. The surrounding landscape, so diverse and stunning in every aspect, the miles and miles of golden, sandy beaches, the compact and bijoux town centre with so many different things on offer at the locally owned shops and restaurants, and the friendly and welcoming atmosphere - all contribute to Bude being so special.

Whether you are looking for an activity-packed visit with lots of things to do and see, or a day away from it all with your family, Bude offers it all. It is a place where you can be as active and adventurous as you like, or simply unwind, whilst watching the Atlantic rollers sweep onto the shores.

Bude’s Canal and Marshes are located in the heart of the seaside town and provide opportunities to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the Bude valley, or the opportunity to try a spot of fishing, kayaking or gentle stroll along the accessible tow path and or network of well marked walking routes. A short wander from the brand new Canal interpretation centre can take you amongst a carpet of orchids in June, or to the fully accessible bird hide to watch our native birds. You might even be lucky enough to see our famous sea locks in operation or spot the resident otter family as you wander along the waterway. A fantastic area of such abundant richness, you would never believe it was at the edge of Bude.
