'Cyclability' is now up and rolling!

Monday 21st March 2011

On Saturday March 5, disabled people from across Cornwall gathered at Newquay Sports Centre, and Newquay Tretherras School, to be part of the launch of Cornwall's new disability cycle club - 'Cyclability'.

On the day participants had the opportunity to try out lots of 'all ability bikes' including trikes and tandems which were very kindly supplied by Quest88, Invacare and the Cornwall Mobility Centre.

It was anticipated that over 250 visitors attended the launch coming from as far a field as Bude, Saltash and Penzance. There were even a few brothers and sisters from across the border!

Also amongst the visitors were a few VIP guests, including Lady Mary Hollborrow, Lady Vanessa George and Vin Cox who has recently completed a circumnavigation of the globe on his push bike.

Steve Hillman, Disability Sports Development Officer at the Cornwall Sports Partnership said: ''it was really wonderful seeing such a range of ages and disabilities all enjoying cycling; there was something for everyone to have a go on and the Cornish weather didn't disappoint''.

Organisers Steve Hillman from the Cornwall Sports Partnership and Wendy Creed of 'Cyclability' would like to thank everyone for attending the launch and would also like to encourage people to keep visiting the website for future events and news.
